For years, the ultra fans of the three main soccer clubs in Istanbul (Galatasaray, Fenerbahçe and Beşiktaş) have been known worldwide for their unconditional support of their teams. Their mutual rivalry often ends in extremely violent clashes with numerous injuries and even deaths. In the summer of 2013, something extraordinary happens: during the protests against the Turkish government and Prime Minister Erdogan and the clashes in Gezi Park, the rival fan clubs unite for the first time for a common cause. People, notorious for their hatred, now stand side by side and fight against the ruling system in Turkey under the name "Istanbul United".
