Dancing Quietly

Society/Humor, Germany 2016

Luca wants to graduate from high school after dark years of depression. Her little dog Mata helps her find motivation and a zest for life. Luca makes a deal with Kurt so that she doesn't fail at math: English for math. He becomes a reliable friend, even when things get really bad for Luca. When does this "life" actually succeed? When you understand math and pass your A-levels? When you know how to take sick leave to postpone your exams? When you find the right guy who loves and desires you - and who isn't an asshole? Luca knows pretty well what it's like when getting up, eating and getting dressed just doesn't work. There were ten dark years in her life. Now she has a little dog, Mata, rescued from a killing station in Bulgaria. She gets up and goes out for him. And she is trying to get her A-levels through a second-chance education. Luca makes a deal with the person sitting next to her, Kurt, so that she doesn't fail math: she helps him with English. In return, he explains math to her. He is also a reliable friend. For example, when that aggressive guy rings her doorbell again. And even more so when things get really bad for Luca. But only she can live her life herself.
