Inspector Maigret

William Brown lives with his wife and his mother in a villa near Cannes. Once a month he goes there to withdraw money, then disappears for a few days without a trace, only to return home virtually penniless. Madame Brown's inquiries into his whereabouts are unsuccessful. When mother and wife find William stabbed to death in the villa one day, they lose their nerve, bury him in the garden and leave town. Soon they are arrested by the police, but to Maigret the solution seems too simple and obvious. He carefully investigates the dead man's past life and comes across some rather strange things. The trail leads to the notorious Liberty Bar ... Based on the 17th novel in the Maigret series: 'Liberty Bar' (1932). In German the novel was published as 'Liberty Bar' and 'Maigret in the Liberty Bar'.
